Sergio Ramos scored a late equalizer to preserve Real Madrid's six-point lead atop La Liga with a 1-1 draw at Barcelona in the season's first El Clasico on Saturday.

Luis Suarez's opener looked to have been enough to secure victory for Barca and inflict Madrid's first defeat in all competitions since April 6, but Ramos had the final say as he headed home in the 90th minute.

Suarez headed home Neymar's free kick in the 53rd minute to fire the host into the lead, and Barcelona had a number of chances to double its advantage, espn.com wrote.

But Madrid broke the host’s dominance just before the clock struck 90 minutes as Ramos headed a Luka Modric free kick past Marc-Andre ter Stegen to stun the Camp Nou.
